Consortium PSYCHIATRICUM journal is a media partner for the Regional Congress of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA). The event will take place on 24–27 June 2027 in Tashkent.

The WPA is the world's largest professional community in psychiatry, bringing together 147 psychiatric associations from 123 countries and more than 250,000 psychiatrists. For Consortium PSYCHIATRICUM, this partnership affirms the journal's standing as a platform where pressing issues in psychiatry are discussed at an international level. The Tashkent Congress will be one of the key focal points of that dialogue.

What the Journal Is Preparing

Ahead of the Congress, Consortium PSYCHIATRICUM will publish an article on Uzbekistan's outpatient psychiatric services. The piece will be prepared by researchers from Tashkent State Medical University. In addition, the journal welcomes submissions of the best materials presented by Congress speakers.

Journal representatives have joined the Congress's Committees. The Advisory Committee of the Congress will be chaired, on behalf of Russia, by Georgy Kostyuk, Editor-in-Chief of Consortium PSYCHIATRICUM, while the Early Career Psychiatrists Committee will be chaired by Olga Karpenko, Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

What Will Be Discussed in Tashkent

The central theme of the Congress is "Prevention of Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorders: Global Approaches and Regional Solutions". Against the backdrop of contemporary social, demographic, and technological change, preserving mental health, advancing early prevention of mental disorders and addictions, and improving the accessibility and quality of specialised care all require consolidation of the international professional community. The programme places particular emphasis on finding solutions that account for the cultural and social characteristics of each region.

"Tashkent, one of the most ancient cities of the Great Silk Road, has for centuries been a meeting place of cultures, ideas and knowledge. I am confident that in 2027 our city will continue this remarkable tradition, uniting specialists from many countries around a common purpose — to advance a modern, humane and evidence-based mental health care system," said Zarifjon Sharifovich Ashurov, President of the Psychiatric Association of Uzbekistan.
