April, 2 – World Autism Awareness Day

Posted: 03.04.2024

World Autism Awareness Day was established by the United Nations in 2007 to to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism so they can lead full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), approximately 1/100 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder around the world.

The widespread use of validated telemedicine diagnostic systems in clinical practice contributes to the early detection of autistic spectrum disorders, increasing the timeliness and effectiveness of medical, corrective psychological, pedagogical, and habilitation interventions.

Mental health professionals are looking for more effective treatment to autistic patients, including non-medication therapies, as well as habilitation and social adjustment of patients.

The following Consortium Psychiatricum thematic collection includes studies and clinical cases, describing clinicians' efforts to support the health and social well-being of patients with autism and their carers:
