All-Russian Conference on Mental Health of the Person and Society.

On October 31 the 7th All-Russian Academic and Research Conference on “Mental Health of the Person and Society. Current issues and possible ways to address them” was held in Moscow. Among the organizers were Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Department of Health Care, Russian Association for the Advancement of Science, Moscow branch of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists and Mental-health Clinic No. 1 named after N.A. Alexeev.

 

Professor George P. Kostyuk, editor-in-chief of Consortium Psychiatricum and director of Mental-health clinic No.1 named after N.A. Alexeev, professor Mikhail A.Piradov, vice-president of Russian Academy of Sciences and Nikolai G. Neznanov, president of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists.

 

During the opening prof. Kostyuk performed an awards ceremony for the participants of the research articles competition for early-career scientists within the journal. The authors of the winning article "Revisiting Social Stigma in Non-suicidal Self-injury: A Narrative Review" Meheli Saha and Dr. Debanjan Banerjee joined the conference online from India to give a brief speech. They highlighted the importance of the competition as a platform for young scientists to showcase and publish their research and mentioned the relevance of the topic chosen as a step towards a more inclusive psychiatry. 

 

A special prize of sympathy from the jury was awarded to the article entitled "Association of Anxiety and Depression with Objective and Subjective Cognitive Decline in Outpatient Healthcare Consumers with COVID-19: А Cross-Sectional Study." Mikhail Yu. Sorokin, Chairman of the Young Scientists Council of the Bekhterev Society of Psychiatrists in St. Petersburg and one of the authors of the article, who was present at the event in person, received the award. Sergey S. Potanin, head of the Young Scientists Council of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists and Olga A. Karpenko, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Consortium Psychiatricum, moderated the Symposium “Young science - a collection of research by early-career psychiatrists”. During the Symposium early-career scientists presented and discussed their research in English for the sake of practicing presenting on the international level.

 

Other symposia focused on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, organization of care, human rights, current interdisciplinary research in psychiatry and social projects.
