Mental Health in Emergencies: A Thematic Article Collection
October 10 — World Mental Health Day
This day was established by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) to remind that mental health is the foundation of human and societal well-being. In 2025, it is dedicated to the theme "Access to services — mental health in catastrophes and emergencies".
Humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, and natural disasters affect the lives of millions. According to the WHO, one in five people experience a mental health condition during a crisis.
Timely and quality psychological support in these moments saves and rebuild lives. To achieve this, it is essential to create effective support programmes and ensure the most vulnerable groups have access to the help they need.
How to address the consequences of collective trauma? What kind of assistance should be provided to refugees and forcibly displaced persons? How has the pandemic impacted the mental well-being of people across the globe?
To answer these and other pressing questions relevant during crises, we have prepared a thematic collection of articles published in the journal Consortium PSYCHIATRICUM.
